Ways to Use Your Ghee.

Ghee has been a staple of Indian kitchens for generations — here are a few simple, everyday ways to use it. None of this is fancy; it's just how ghee is actually used at home.

Tadka / Tempering

Heat a spoon of ghee in a small pan, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, a pinch of asafoetida (hing), and curry leaves until they splutter. Pour over dal, khichdi, or vegetables for an instant flavour lift.

Roti & Paratha

Brush a little ghee on rotis and parathas straight off the tawa. It keeps them soft, adds aroma, and is how most households finish their daily bread.

Rice & Khichdi

Stir a spoon of ghee into hot rice, khichdi, or dal right before serving. The heat releases the aroma and rounds out the flavour of the whole dish.

Sweets & Halwa

Ghee is the traditional base for halwa, laddoo, and most Indian sweets — used both for roasting the main ingredient (semolina, besan, or nuts) and for binding the final mixture.

Sautéing & Frying

Ghee has a high smoke point, which makes it suitable for sautéing vegetables, roasting spices, and shallow-frying — an alternative to refined oils in everyday cooking.

Morning Ghee

A small spoon of ghee stirred into warm milk or a cup of hot water first thing in the morning is a common Ayurvedic-inspired habit in many Indian households.
